Divorce is common today. However, probably not as night as 50%. Yet, still too high for Christians. What does the Bible and church tradition say about Divorce? 
Certainly Jesus thought it was wrong but… 
My mother would often share “It’s a I’ll wind that blows not good!” 
So the Old Testament as put forth by famous Rabbis had different views. 
It is difficult for Episcopalians to be strict on the subject, given our history. One excuse often put forth is about politics. The Pope had already granted King Henry a divorce. However, for the marriage in question there was an additional concern. The Pope was under house arrest at the time. It was King Henry’s wife’s relative who had the Pope arrested! 
The key phrase here is “without careful consideration!”
