This is a poem about Disasters and faith.
When the choices in this life come down to choosing not to choose
And the troubles that you’re facing guarantee that you will lose
When the songs you want to write are simply saying they refuse
Then let me tell you brother that it’s time to sing the blues
Oh the country’s in a mess and all our leaders have no clue
Our democracy is broken and we know not what to do
And it seems as if a thousand rains are falling just on cue
So disaster here and fire there are fighting me and you
And if these were the only things we might just get it right
But there’s terror in the world in the darkness of the night
There’s bombs on trains there’s guns in schools and enemies to fight
It’s hard to be at peace because the threats are out of sight
Oh woe is me and woe is you its time to cry in prayer
For if you might believe in God we might not yet despair
Because He came to live with us and all our sorrows share
He died that we might dare to trust He is a God who cares
So face the fears and stand your ground or float upon the waves
And put your trust in Love’s supply and in an empty grave
For terror cannot win a heart nor make a flood behave
Yet neighbors will help neighbors and from the waters save
