Bath New York, My Home Town
There is a fondness for the place
Where I and others had the grace
To grow and learn to share and play
Till off to school or war away
And now a life time later we
Who left look back again to see
The memories we left behind
And think the town had been so kind
I wonder if it was so good
Why most of us have understood
That moving was a better thing
And we forget the parts that sting
Yet somehow those scenes still remain
In places pleasant in my brain
The rolling hills, the lakes and trees
The fields of corn, the wine and cheese
Now thanks to Facebook and old friends
Who stayed behind and kindly send
The photographs of Fall and Snow
Of August Fair and river’s flow
The Bath we knew has changed a lot
Perhaps our memories have not
But either way we still recall
That living there not bad at all
