November 1 Timothy 4:10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
In context Paul is talking about his own efforts to share the Gospel with great effort and zeal. His hope of salvation compells him to do all he can to share the Gospel, The Good News, as much as humanly possible.
We are living in a time when many people, especially young adults have little hope for the future. The evidence for this is the declining birthrate and the decline in marriage. It is also evidenced by the prevalence of abortion.
It is encombant upon we who are believers, we who have the hope of salvation, to share the Gospel. This is what Paul is telling Timothy to stress among those in his congregation.
However, it is not so much that we need to train evangelist. Rather we need to remind believers of their own hope of salvation. If it is truly Good News for us noone can stop us.
I recently went to see a great new movie. Any opportunity I ready, willing, and able to encourage other to go see it.
Likewise spontaneously share information regarding a good deal or a good meal. Yesterday we had the new breakfast burrito and potato wedges at Wendy”s. It was better and bigger than similar meals at MacDonald’s or Sonic!
Years ago after the big spiritual event that brought me back to faith I was having breakfast at MacDonald’s. As I sat there I remembered being at the same restaurant the evening before. Then I had thought I could be at a MacDonald’s anywhere and be just as depressed. So I thought a similar, but opposite, thought. I could be in a MacDonald’s anywhere and be equally at peace filled with Joy!
