November 19 Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Like many young people there was a period of about Six years in my young life when I fell away from the church and God. I found myself annoyed by people who asked “Are you saved?” I would think, “Saved from what?” Yet a few years later and then I found myself severely depressed and unhappy. It seemed to my all my efforts in life were useless, ineffective, and empty of purpose.
Then I cried out loud, “Can’t I just be.” I wasn’t even consciously calling upon God. I wasn’t even thinking anyone would hear me. However, it was as if God thought “That’s close enough.” He spoke to me saying, “Yes, and I Am!”
It seems to me that faith may actually come in moments of desperation. Think of the woman who grabs hold of His clothing. Another woman, the One who just asks for a crumb of blessing also comes to mind. Most testimonies share how in times of crisis and desperation Jesus saves. Blessed indeed are those who call upon the Lord without being desperate. It is rare because like me they probably don’t believe they need saving.
How did you come to call upon the Lord?
