December 6 2 Peter 1:5-8

December 6 2 Peter 1:5-8

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In Matthew we read “His yoke is easy His burden is lite.” We might wonder when we see the above list from Peter! However, it reminds me of a lesson from my college class in Stumts and Tumbliing. I wasn’t very good at it. The hand stand was particularly difficult for me. The instructor kept telling me “It’s easy to do it right.” I eventually figured out that he really meant “It’s easy when you do it right!”

Thus Peter’s list isn’t a burden. It’s the natural progression of attitudes and behaviors that come with growing in Grace.

How are you progressing on your upward faith journey?
