December 11 2 Thessalonians 1:11
11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is a saying: God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called. St. Paul is a prime example. God chose Saul when he was arresting followers of The Way (Christians) and approving those who stoned Stephen to death. Not exactly a person you want on your side!
On the other hand God knew better. He knew Saul, renamed Paul was the kind of zealous determined person who could persuade others. Indeed this passage was written by Paul to encourage others to live out their calling.
We can not say “Who am I to do….” Whatever God puts on our hearts. We don’t get to decide the calling. We only get to do it or not. When we say yes to God’s call He makes us worthy.
What is God making you worthy of accomplishing?
