January 10 Psalm 33:18
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love
Can you remember being a child saying “Daddy watch me,” as you performed your latest accomplishment? How wonderful it is to know “the eyes of the Lord” are watching with love.
This verse highlights God’s attentive care and love for those who revere Him and trust in His faithful, unfailing love. To “fear” the Lord doesn’t mean to cower in terror but to have a deep reverence and respect for His holiness and authority. It reflects a heart aligned with God’s will, seeking to honor Him in all things.
The mention of “hope in his steadfast love” emphasizes reliance on God’s covenantal love, which is unchanging and enduring. This hope is not passive; it is active trust in God’s promises and character, especially in times of uncertainty or difficulty.
Psalm 33:18 reminds us of the intimacy of God’s relationship with His people. He watches over them with care and provides assurance that His love and faithfulness are a foundation on which they can stand. It invites believers to live in reverence and faith, knowing that God is always mindful of their needs and well-being.
