February 4 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (ESV) says:

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

Reflection:

This passage speaks to endurance and hope in the Christian life. Paul acknowledges the reality of suffering and physical decline but contrasts it with the continual renewal of the inner self through God’s grace. He encourages believers to see their struggles as “light momentary affliction” compared to the “eternal weight of glory” awaiting them.

The key takeaway is perspective: instead of focusing on present difficulties, we are called to fix our eyes on the unseen, eternal realities. This is a call to faith, reminding us that what we experience now is temporary, but God’s promises are everlasting.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to meet many people who courageously live with difficult situations of health, family struggles, and poverty. Jordon Peterson has often said that while it , at be difficult to I, prove ones situation it is relatively easy to turn it into hell! What a blessing to , meet people who rise above their situations to be a blessing to others.

How are you able with Gld, a help to rise above?
