February 11 2 Corinthians 6:2
“For he says, ‘In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
This verse is a powerful call to urgency in responding to God’s grace. Paul is quoting Isaiah 49:8, emphasizing that God has appointed a specific time for His salvation to be received. He applies this prophecy to the present moment, stressing that the time for repentance and acceptance of God’s grace is now—not in some distant future.
Key Themes:
1.The Urgency of Salvation
•Paul is addressing those who might be hesitant or procrastinating in responding to the Gospel. He makes it clear that there is no better time to turn to God than the present.
2.God’s Grace in the Present
•This verse reminds us that God’s grace is not just a past event or a future promise; it is available today. God actively reaches out, and we are called to respond while we have the opportunity.
3.A Call to Action for Believers
•While this verse is often used evangelistically, it also applies to Christians. It reminds us to walk faithfully, live out our calling, and not delay in doing what God has placed before us.
Application:
•If you have been delaying a step of faith, now is the time to act.
•If you feel distant from God, He is offering His grace today.
•If you are sharing the Gospel with others, emphasize the urgency—God’s salvation is available now.
There is an old hymn that says “Once to every man and nation comes a moment to decide…” There may be an eternal “now” yet any people miss their “now.” Don’t let it be you. Now is your moment!
