February 21 Psalm 62:1

February 21 Psalm 62:1

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.

Commentary:

This verse expresses a deep trust in God as the sole source of salvation and security. The phrase my soul waits in silence suggests a posture of stillness, surrender, and patient expectation before God. It contrasts with a restless or anxious heart, emphasizing reliance on divine providence rather than human effort.

The psalmist, traditionally identified as David, declares that “from him comes my salvation.†This highlights a firm belief that deliverance, whether spiritual or physical, is entirely in God’s hands. It rejects reliance on worldly power, wealth, or human schemes.

In a broader spiritual sense, this verse teaches the discipline of waiting on God is a key theme in Christian meditation and faith. It calls believers to cultivate quiet trust, recognizing that true peace and salvation come from God alone, not from external circumstances.

For practical application, this verse encourages us to practice stillness in prayer, to trust in God’s timing, and to let go of anxieties by resting in His presence.

I will as this verse to my daily prayers. How about you?
