There’s A Deep Dark Place place hidden in the soul
A hiding place yearning to be whole
That fears the light and shivers in the cold
Forever young and never to be old
Could there be a love that reaches deep within
Could forgiveness come and cleanse us all from sin
Could we at last be free to breathe the air of peace
And set aside our fear to welcome sweet release
Must we trust on faith goodness will prevail
Despite the twists of fate that causes all to fail
Never to know love that conquers evil men
Or believe at last there’s more beyond the end
Oh let us cling to hope be gentle with our souls
Let us give more room for others to be whole
And perhaps in time the universe will be
A kinder place for such as you and me
