April 3. Isaiah 12:2

April 3. Isaiah 12:2

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

Commentary

This verse is part of a song of praise following the prophecy of Israel’s deliverance. Isaiah moves from judgment to joy, expressing deep personal trust in God. The phrase “God is my salvation” is both a declaration of deliverance and an identity statement—salvation is not just what God gives, but who God is. The repetition of divine names (“the Lord God”) emphasizes both intimacy and majesty. “My strength and my song” echoes the song of Moses in Exodus 15:2, connecting God’s past faithfulness to present hope.

Devotional Reflection

There are days when fear knocks at the door of our hearts—fear of failure, illness, loss, or uncertainty. But Isaiah invites us to respond with trust, not terror. We can do this not because we are brave, but because God is near. When we say, “God is my salvation,” we aren’t just stating a belief—we are declaring a relationship. He lifts us, strengthens us, and puts a song in our mouths, even in the midst of struggle. When we focus on Him as our strength, fear loses its grip.

Question for Personal Reflection

What fear do I need to surrender today in order to more fully trust that God is both my strength and my salvation?
