April 4 Psalm 36:5
“Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.”
Comment:
The psalmist uses the grandeur of the heavens and the sky to describe the limitless reach of God’s love and faithfulness. This isn’t just poetic exaggeration—it’s a reminder that God’s covenantal love (chesed) and trustworthiness (’emunah) are boundless. Unlike human affection, which often falters or fades, God’s love soars beyond our highest thoughts, and His faithfulness remains constant, even when we are uncertain or unsteady.
Devotional:
When we look up into the vast sky, we’re reminded of how small we are—and yet, we are deeply loved. God’s love covers every moment, every failure, and every need. His faithfulness is not dependent on our strength or goodness, but on His unchanging nature. On days when we feel overwhelmed or forgotten, this verse invites us to lift our eyes and remember: the same God who orders the heavens is steadfast in love toward you. His faithfulness holds firm even in our darkest valleys.
Reflection Question:
In what area of your life do you most need to be reminded today of God’s unfailing love and faithfulness?
