Do what’s right in spite of fear
Bear the pain when it comes near
Persevere until the end
Stand your ground for self or friend
Maybe needed on the street
Perhaps it’s violence that you greet
In your school or work or play
Sneaks upon you some fine day
Maybe speak the truth to power
Maybe you run into the tower
Maybe someone needs your aid
And you help although afraid
Courage rises when called upon
Maybe at dusk or before dawn
Perhaps at work or on the street
Danger that you chance to meet
