February 17 Romans 10:13

“For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

This verse is a direct quotation from Joel 2:32, emphasizing the universality of salvation through faith in Christ. It underscores that salvation is not limited by nationality, background, or status, but is available to all who sincerely call upon Jesus as Lord.

Paul, in this chapter, is highlighting the simplicity and accessibility of the Gospel. It is not through works or adherence to the law that one is saved, but through faith in Christ. This verse serves as both an invitation and a reassurance: anyone who genuinely seeks the Lord and calls upon His name with faith and repentance will be saved.

In the broader context of Romans 10, Paul is emphasizing the importance of hearing and believing the message of Christ, reinforcing that faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). This verse, therefore, encourages evangelism and personal response to the Gospel message.
