February 2 Psalm 31:24

February 2 Psalm 31:24

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!”

This verse is a call to steadfast faith and encouragement for those who trust in God. It comes at the end of Psalm 31, where David has poured out his distress and struggles, yet ultimately affirms his confidence in God’s deliverance.

•“Be strong”

This is both an exhortation and a reassurance. Strength in the biblical sense is not just physical but spiritual and emotional resilience, grounded in God’s presence.

•“Let your heart take courage”

The heart represents the inner being, emotions, and will. This phrase encourages believers to actively embrace courage rather than succumb to fear or despair.

•“All you who wait for the Lord”

Waiting on the Lord implies trust, patience, and expectation. It acknowledges that God’s timing is perfect, even when His answers seem delayed.

Application:

This verse is a powerful reminder for those facing trials to hold onto faith. It speaks to anyone enduring hardship, urging them to find strength in the hope that God will act in His time. It aligns with the broader biblical theme that courage is not self-generated but comes from reliance on God’s promises.

Life brings us all kinds of adversity. We have problems with health, work, relationships, and yes sometimes persecution. If you haven’t, count yourself blessed and pray for strength when it does come your way.

I’ve had my share of all these and the Lord upheld me. Two years ago it was a back injury and the worst physical pain of my life. I say on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 15! Though it brought me to tears I survived. One of my parishioners said his favorite verse was “it came to pass…” and it always does in this life or the next.

How has the Lord given you courage.
