Here I go again

Here I go again with yet another all-too-frequent story of lost items!

I was sitting on the porch, smoking my pipe and watching an interesting video about Clint Eastwood representing himself in a court case, when my wife, Brenda, called for assistance. She was ready to tackle the big job of rearranging the bedroom.

I came inside, took off my hat and jacket, and went to help—setting my iPad down somewhere that I would later forget. About two hours later, we finished. Then I wanted to go back to watching the video. However, my iPad was nowhere to be found. I tried not to panic because it had to be in the house. After all, I hadn’t left!

I checked everywhere. I sat down and tried to remember every place I had been after I first came in. I looked in the three or four spots where I habitually set it down. I even looked in the suitcase I had placed on the bed.

Then Brenda found it—lying in plain sight on the bed next to the suitcase. She did her best not to laugh at me, and I did my best not to laugh at myself as I retreated back to the porch.

A minute back into my video, Brenda called out again for help. Now she couldn’t find her glasses, which she had set down somewhere while helping me look for my iPad. I took a turn around the house, checking the numerous places she often leaves them.

Returning to the living room, where she sat fretting over not having her glasses to watch a movie, I was prepared to disappoint her with my fruitless search. However, in that moment, I found them. I said, “Brenda, look down.” There were her glasses, hanging from the collar of her T-shirt.

We both laughed at ourselves, and I said, “I’ll have to share this funny story on my website!”
