January 17 Proverbs 23:18
There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23:18 is a beautiful and encouraging verse that reminds us of God’s promises and faithfulness. It offers reassurance, especially in times of uncertainty or struggle, that there is a future filled with hope and that this hope is secure in Him. The assurance that “your hope will not be cut off” inspires perseverance and trust in God’s plan, even when the present may seem unclear.
The Certainty of Hope
The verse emphasizes a future hope—not just wishful thinking, but a confident expectation in God’s plans. This stresses the difference between worldly hopes (which can disappoint) and spiritual hope (which is secure).
God’s Faithfulness
“Your hope will not be cut off” points to God’s unchanging faithfulness. Even when circumstances seem bleak, God’s promises endure.
Patience in the Waiting
Hope often requires waiting. Patients and trust work together in the Christian life.
For me it comes down to having a positive attitude and avoiding worry. It may be difficult however negativity and fretting are easy and certainly make things worse. As I get older and my body is deteriorating it is easy to get frustrated. For example, Imdrop something, then lose my balance and knock something over. Then my back hurts as I pick it up. Then I’m irritated for an hour. It’s just a bad plan. It is much better if I can just think to begin with things happen it’s not the end of the world!
How do you hold on to hope?
