January 18 Psalm130:5

January 18 Psalm130:5

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

This verse, from Psalm 130:5, beautifully captures the essence of faith and trust in God’s promises. It reflects a deep, patient longing for God’s presence and intervention. The phrase “my whole being waits” emphasizes complete surrender and reliance on God, not just intellectually or emotionally, but with every part of one’s self.

The second line, “and in his word I put my hope,” points to the unshakable trust in God’s Word as a source of comfort and assurance. It reminds us that waiting on the Lord is not passive; it is active, rooted in the hope and faith that His promises will be fulfilled. This verse invites reflection on the virtue of patience, the strength of hope, and the peace that comes from trusting God, even in seasons of waiting.

This morning I finally completed the total process to become a “badged” volunteer chaplain for the Arkansas Departme of Corrections. I have been waiting md hoping for this to be completed for almost a year. Not long ago, my wife reminded me to put it in God’s hands and stop fretting. It was good advice. When I stopped fretting God started working!

For what are your waiting? Have you put you hope I’m Him?
