May Hope Return

This is poem that prays May Hope Return. I hope you enjoy.

No words to express the wanton excess
Of violence and crime in our cities
No reason to know why so many will go
For night after night to destroy

Excuses abound can always be found
To justify anger and rage
Yet if truth may be told by the wise and the bold
‘Tis the archetypical possession of souls

From somewhere inside where hate tries to hide
The foolish and zealous give way
To the flames of desire for revenge that requires
An enemy goat to despise

Yet hope may return if we can but learn
From an icon who spent his life well
In the struggle for peace for justice increase
Absorbing the pain of his foes

May cooler heads who choose in their stead
To combat the violence with love
That somehow somewhere there might return fair
A day and a time to declare

That somehow somewhere there might return fair
Th whole human race might live in this place
Where justice and peace can reside
And the love’ of God’s Kingdom resides
