Talking Past Each Other
We’re talking past each other now
And wonder why and wonder how
It is that no one really hears
Nor seems to care and always fears
The things they heard we did not say
And wonder why we walk away
Or shout it louder in our face
And yes it’s always about race
And yes it’s all about the past
And consequences that do last
Into today and still tomorrow
Filling us all with pain and sorrow
For lives that matter to us all
The blue and black the great the small
