I call this poem The Christian faith as I Paint it
The brush is wide that paints the way
We Christians live our faith each day
The pictures vary place to place
And portraits show not just one face
Perhaps what some believe is true
May not be true at all for you
And those whose profiles seem most grand
May not resemble humble brands
So let us take a finer brush
And say what might not make you blush
Illuminating if I can
the barest truth I understand
Jesus the Christ the focal point
He sees the world is out of joint
Perspective his from lowly view
Tells us to value ev’ry hue
Not just the ones who look like me
Not just the strong and mighty be
But pris’ners, widows, poor and more
The crazy, homeless, at your door
Forgiveness fills our brush each day
And draws a line throughout our way
While healing follows where we go
For bodies, minds and souls we know
Yes some would draw you out of view
But more seek to include you too
A mural of God’s children we
Because he loves the world you see
With gratitude our picture glows
As Sunday worship overflows
With praise to Him who gave His all
That we might rise above the fall
